What Inspired Me To Start Writing Online
I never thought I would have the confidence to start writing online.
It’s vulnerable, uncomfortable, and I didn’t think I had any original ideas worth sharing.
I may be humiliated, someone might make fun of or disagree with something that I wrote, or much worse.
However, after following the work of some of my favourite authors, I realized a lot of good can come from it too.
I can have a creative outlet that allows me to express myself. I can create a personal brand that will open up numerous opportunities for me in the future. I can connect with other writers and make meaningful connections. I have the ability to struggle through something and develop my craft. I can potentially diversify my income, though this is very much an after-thought.
Honestly, I think if I stick this out, the benefits can be life-changing.
But what if I don’t have any original ideas?
I thought about this and I realized that I’m the only person with my unique skillset, experiences, upbringing, and struggles. So while there are a lot of bloggers out there, very few, if not none of them, share my exact unique experience of being a minority, who is an engineer-turned-sales professional, who was born American but raised Canadian with a Pakistani heritage, and much more. This gives me the ability to create my own niche.
This was an attempt to turn my “what could go wrong?” mindset into “what could go right?”
There are no guarantees this will take off, but it would never hurt to try.
